DURANT — After getting shut out for three quarters Friday, Durant ensured its senior night wouldn’t end on a sour note.

Down 10-0 in the fourth quarter, junior running back Chris Atkins hit the hole for a 47-yard touchdown. The ensuing PAT was blocked and the Cougars trailed 10-6.

After the teams traded punts, Durant went on a seven-play drive that ended with a Trey VanDeGrift 7-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Zofnas with 1:04 to play for a 12-10 lead.

“I told the team what we had to do and everybody agreed,” VanDeGrift said.

On the ensuing kickoff, Brandon Jones found Allen Lewis for a 52-yard pass to set the Eagles up for a 20-yard field-goal attempt. It went wide right and the 12-10 scored held for the Cougars.

Brandon got on the board first with an 8-yard touchdown run from Jones to put the Eagles up 7-0 in the second quarter.

To start the second half, Brandon had an eight-play drive that ended with a 40-yard field goal by Dylan Dyer.
