Down 10-7 at the half Thursday against Strawberry Crest, East Bay coach Frank LaRosa reminded his seniors that this was their last chance to earn a victory.
“We took them lightly,” LaRosa said of the Chargers. “We needed to work for everything we got, and I just reminded our seniors that they only had 24 minutes left.”
Senior fullback Quantavious Gibbs topped the 100-yard mark in the second half and East Bay prevailed 20-17 to earn that final victory.
Fellow senior Demetri Green paced the Indians (4-6) on defense and forced a fumble on the first offensive play for Strawberry Crest (1-9).
“It was one of his best games of the year,” LaRosa said.
