Bishop McLaughlin hung with Florida Air Academy early but stumbled in the second half in a 49-13 loss Friday night.

The night started poorly for the Hurricanes (0-4) when Florida Air Academy returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown.

Bishop battled back. Standout running back Jordan Betancourt took a counter 84 yards for a touchdown. Quarterback RJ Perciavalle threw a 62-yard TD pass to Austin Meyers.

The Hurricanes' defense allowed only two first-half offensive touchdowns, so Bishop trailed 21-13 at the break.

But the Falcons soared after halftime. Their ground game dominated and led the way to 28 unanswered points to prevent Bishop's first win of the year.

The Hurricanes open Sunshine State Athletic Conference play next week at Landmark Christian.
