One week after putting up 54 against Ridgewood, Gulf knew it could execute offensively, but questions about the defense still remained.

The Buccaneers answered those questions and more with a  shutout win over Wesley Chapel.

Gulf (1-8) ended its program-long 20-game losing streak in convincing fashion. Avery Welch hit James Grubb twice for touchdowns (18, 45 yards). Joey Nickerson added a 1-yard TD run.

On defense, Gulf’s Montavious Reed picked off Scott Edwards and returned it for a touchdown.
