Hillsborough defensive back Terrence Mitchell, one of the bay area's top recruits, has made his college decision and will make his announcement Friday, Terriers coach Earl Garcia said.
Mitchell, ranked the fifth-best cornerback recruit in the nation by Rivals.com, is down to Florida State, Illinois and USF.
He made visits to all three schools, as well as Georgia and Tennessee, making his final visit to Florida State this past weekend -- a trip that went very well.
Illinois coach Ron Zook visited Mitchell last week, bringing former Hillsborough quarterback and current Illini receiver Jarred Fayson in tow.
Garcia said USF was in Mitchell's top two unless coach Jim Leavitt was fired, but that Mitchell wanted to wait and see what hired the Bulls made until making a decision. On Thursday, USF reportedly hired East Carolina coach Skip Holtz.
