ST. PETERSBURG — Indian Rocks Christian School beat Shorecrest 48-7 Friday behind a strong offensive attack.

Shorecrest (1-3, 0-1) started strong, taking advantage of a Golden Eagles’ fumble on the first play of the game. Just a few minutes later, senior running back Tripper Rau scored on a 2-yard touchdown run.

But Indian Rocks Christian (3-2, 2-0) took momentum when it stopped the Chargers on a fourth and goal from the 8-yard line in the second quarter. The Golden Eagles tied the score at 7 a few plays later when sophomore running back Theo Anderson (145 yards total, seven carries) broke free for an 86-yard touchdown.

The Golden Eagle offense could not be stopped from that point on, as it picked up 491 total yards on a balanced attack. Sophomore quarterback Garrett Ross Johnson completed six of his eight passes for 215 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, three different players, including Anderson, sophomore running back Zeke McGaughy and junior running back Daniel Lerena, all ran for two touchdowns apiece.
