RIVERVIEW — Jesuit got many  contributors on  offense to lead  the Tigers past  Spoto in Friday’s district  matchup . Vincent Testaverde, Trent Wessel and Wesley Eveld  threw touchdown passes in the 49-16 victory .

“I don’t think I’ve ever been on a team where three quarterbacks came in and all threw a touchdown pass,”  Jesuit coach Matt Thompson said.

The Tigers also had success with the ground game. Kevin Newman ran for three touchdowns in the first half, earning him  a second half of rest.

Defensively, Jesuit (3-3, 1-0) dominated in the first half as well. Spoto did not record a first down  until less than four minutes to go in the second quarter and was unsuccessful on two fourth-down  attempts, including fourth and inches .

In the second half the Spartans (0-6, 0-1) showed life . After kicking off to begin the third, Spoto linebacker Rafael Morales recovered a fumble after a hit on Testaverde’s blind side . Quarterback Kevin Hobley made a huge play on  fourth and 17, escaping a slew of Tigers pass rushers to convert a long throw downfield. The drive resulted in the first of Spoto’s two second-half touchdowns.
