In a game that started late and almost didn’t get in the fourth quarter due to curfew, the Lions pulled away for their second victory to start the season.

After King jumped ahead 14-3, the Longhorns (0-2) cut the margin to two but could not get another big offensive play.

It was the District 6A-8 opener for both teams. King does not play Armwood, Jefferson, Robinson or Hillsborough until the back half of the schedule and conceivably could get off to a 5-0 start.
