LAKELAND — Bishop McLaughlin didn’t have to worry about stopping Lakeland Christian’s T.J. Simmons on Friday night. The Vikings’ star running back sat out because of precautionary reasons with an injury.

The Hurricanes were tasked with stopping the other star in the Vikings’ backfield, quarterback Christian Alexander.

Mission failed.

Alexander set a school record with five touchdown passes and added another with a scoring run as the Vikings routed Bishop McLaughlin 55-19 before.

Alexander also set the school record for completion percentage in a game as he completed 83 percent of his passes in a 10-for-12 283-yard  performance.

The Vikings raced out to a 35-0 halftime lead on the back of four Alexander passing touchdowns.

Alexander broke the mark when he hit R.B. Marlow with a 37-yard touchdown pass to open the second half. The junior then added his sixth score of the night on a 3-yard touchdown run.

Bishop McLaughlin was led by Eric Pitton, who ran for 117 yards and a touchdown. Hurricanes quarterback R.J. Perciavalle added two fourth-quarter touchdowns and finished with 78 yards on the ground.
