The Florida High School Athletic Association has suspended Land O'Lakes junior Gary Myrick for one game. A spokeperson for the FHSAA e-mailed a copy of the document sent to Land O'Lakes to notify Myrick of the disciplinary action.

Land O'Lakes coach Matt Kitchie had not heard from the Florida High School Athletic Association earlier in the day regarding Myrick. He was ejected from Friday's win against Sunlake after intentionally stepping on an opponent in the third quarter, Kitchie said.

Turns out Myrick would not play in any case. Kitchie said Monday regardless of the FHSAA's decision he would bench Myrick for Friday's game at Mitchell.

The winner will advance to the playoffs.

"If he wasn't ejected, (we) probably (would) not (bench him)," Kitchie said. "But it's the principal. You can't tollerate that. I've been pretty firm with disciplining players. No one is special. ...We're planning on playing without him."

Kitchie suspended quarterback Stevie Weatherford for a game earlier this season for breaking a team rule.

Kitchie also said linebacker Ben Hedblom is coping with a shoulder injury and might not play Friday.
