The recruitment of Land O'Lakes quarterback Stevie Weatherford probably began before the Gators' junior stepped on campus.

Younger brother of North Suncoast all-time passing leader Drew Weatherford, Stevie came to Land O'Lakes with a reputation for being a rare talent. There were whispers he had more potential than Drew.

So far, Land O'Lakes coach Matt Kitchie said Purdue, Georgia, USF and Vanderbilt have all shown strong interest. Coaches from South Carolina and Tennessee are slated to visit Kitchie on Friday to speak with him about Stevie. Florida, Florida State and Miami have also shown interest.

Weatherford, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound junior, was named the 2009 Times' all-Suncoast first-team quarterback. He completed 128 of 206 passes for 2,052 yards, 27 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also ran 61 times for 447 yards and four touchdowns.
