Land O'Lakes quarterback Stevie Weatherford has been suspended for Friday's game against Anclote, Gators coach Matt Kitchie confirmed Wednesday morning.

Kitchie would not elaborate, citing student confidentiality laws, but did say he was following the rules in place by Pasco County schools.

Weatherford has thrown all but three passes for the Gators, leading them to a 4-0 start. He has thrown for 636 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions. He completed 11-of-17 passes for 167 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-30 win over Gulf.

Gators receivers Alex Robinson and Justin Tello are the only other players to throw a pass, and none of those was completed. Kitchie said Robinson and Tello will both play quarterback against Anclote.

First-year Anclote has started its season 0-4 and been outscored 180-39 this season, including a 47-0 loss last week to Sunlake.

Land O'Lakes and Anclote are both in Class 3A, District 7. So far, the Gators are deadlocked on top of the district with Mitchell, Pasco and Sunlake; all are 2-0.
