Second-year Fivay’s first trip to the playoffs ended rather abruptly Friday night.

The Falcons ran into quite the challenge in their 5A region quarterfinal, getting shut out 28-0 by Citra power North Marion.

“It was a challenge,” Fivay coach Chris Taylor said. “They’ve got so many D-I kids, so we tried to stop the run. It worked for us most of the night, but that’s a credit to the seniors on defense to lead that effort.

“They played their hearts out. Unfortunately we made too many mistakes in the red zone to win a football game. Otherwise, if we capitalize on some of those opportunities, we’re in the football game.”

North Marion got its running game going when needed, scoring all four touchdowns via the ground.
