PALM HARBOR — Never mind the faith of his team, Robert Cotter said he had the ultimate support.

The sophomore, in his first varsity action, converted his fourth extra point to give Palm Harbor University the overtime victory.

“Faith plays a major part in my life,” said Cotter, who was called up from the junior varsity Wednesday. “As long as I give it up to God, nothing bad can come from it.”

Cotter got help from quarterback Tyler Kaminski.

Countering Seminole’s Ra’Quanne Dickens (304 rushing yards and four touchdowns), the senior passed or ran on 24 of PHU’s 26 plays in the second half and overtime. Overall, he had 294 yards of offense and all five touchdowns for the Hurricanes (3-1), including a 1-yard sneak in overtime.

“If there’s any pressure, I like to take the leadership role,” Kaminski said. “In the second half, we made a statement.”

Seminole (1-4) led as late as 1½ minutes into the fourth. And it took the lead in overtime on Dickens’ 1-yard run. But the extra point was blocked, and it committed 15 penalties for 132 yards. Two penalties in overtime allowed PHU to start its winning drive from the 3.
