PALM HARBOR — Palm Harbor University shook off its Week 1 offensive malaise with a vengeance, rolling up 309 neatly balanced yards Friday in a 28-12 victory over Boca Ciega.

“We have four seniors on our offensive line and we’ve all been together since we were freshmen,” said Hurricanes quarterback Tyler Kaminski. “They’re our powerhouse, our big horses up front, and we wanted to make a statement. It all starts with them.”

A commanding night from the left side (tackle George Tsioukias and guard Tyler Orgera) helped Kaminski rack up 196 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

PHU’s defense stayed staunch led by junior linebacker Desmon Silva, who had an interception and two sacks.

“(Head coach and defensive coordinator Matt LePain) is a defensive guru,” said Silva. “We needed everyone to do their jobs. When we focus, we are absolutely perfect.”

Boca Ciega struggled until its last drive that ended with Derrick Cook’s second touchdown toss to Sekendric Beddines with 14 seconds remaining.
