Pasco (5-3, 3-2), which has been fighting for its playoff life in Class 5A, District 6, will line up next week against Zephyrhills (7-1, 4-1) in the 9-Mile War with a postseason berth on the line after the Pirates beat visiting Central 56-13 Friday night.

Central (0-9, 0-5) saw its losing streak reach 17 in a row, extending the Bears’ school record. Standout running back Robbie Bradley, who came into the game with 1,026 yards this season, played limited snaps because of a bad back.

Freshman Devante Smith, starting in Bradley’s place, had a breakout performance. He scored two touchdowns, intercepted a pass from Pasco quarterback Grant Starling and returned kickoffs for more than 200 combined yards.

But none of that was enough to contain Pasco, which was led by running back Malik Johns. He rushed for more than 250 yards, scored two touchdowns and threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Lane Stancil that put Pasco up 20-0.
