SEFFNER — Despite the final margin, Seffner Christian still struggled with penalties in Friday’s 38-13 win over Lakeland Santa Fe Catholic.
Crusaders senior quarterback Caleb Newman threw for two touchdowns, both to Tyler Flatt.

Santa Fe started off the first quarter with a 45-yard touchdown run by Daniel Jones. The Crusaders responded immediately with a 70-yard touchdown by Robbie Shell.

Penalties on both sides marred the rest of the quarter.

In the second quarter, Newman threw a 30-yard pass to Flatt for a 13-6 Crusaders lead. Newman later ran in a 12-yard TD for a 19-6 halftime lead.

Early in the third quarter, Karmi Mackey scored, and Shell added another touchdown for Seffner Christian’s biggest lead of the night,  32-6.

Newman’s 45-yard touchdown to Flatt capped scoring for Seffner Christian.
