ST. PETERSBURG — Seminole held on to beat Northeast 22-20 Friday, picking up its second win of the season.

Seminole (2-6) kicked off to begin the first half. But the Warhawks were able to recover the kickoff when the Vikings fumbled. They took advantage of the great field position, scoring the game’s opening touchdown on a 1-yard run by senior running back Ra’Quanne Dickens.

Seminole got the ball back and quickly scored again, this time on a 5-yard run by Dickens. It converted a two-point conversion for the 15-0 lead.

The Warhawks had a great chance to make it 22-0 in the second quarter with a first-and-goal opportunity from the 7-yard line. But two costly holding penalties forced senior kicker Marshall Legard into a 38-yard field goal attempt, which he missed.

Northeast (0-7) took advantage of the opportunity. After driving down the field, quarterback Jeff D’Alvia threw an 11-yard touchdown to junior Chris Coston, making it 15-7 heading into halftime.

Northeast struck first in the second half, scoring on a 43-yard touchdown pass from D’Alvia to Antonio Ford on its first possession.
Seminole came right back on its next possession as Dickens, who finished with 174 yards on 31 carries, scored on an 11-yard run.

The score would remain 22-14 until three minutes left in the game. D’Alvia threw his third touchdown of the game, a 5-yarder to junior Devin Bowers to bring the Vikings within two points. The two-point conversion failed, however, on an incomplete pass.
