SEMINOLE — A strong first half Thursday night gave way to a scoreless second for Osceola, which remains winless after falling 42-19 to Seminole.

The Warriors (0-7) seemed to have some momentum early.  Running back Marcus Sherrod put the Warriors up 7-0 in the first quarter after a 60-yard touchdown run.

Seminole’s Trevor Sand then scampered for 48 yards to knot the score at 7-all. The Warhawks continued their smash-mouth rushing attack, with Teddy Willis going 80 yards for another touchdown.  The Warriors quickly fought back, as Tim Riggs connected with Kurt Souminen for a 48-yard strike to close the gap to 14-13.

Brandon Trezza galloped for an 80-yard score to push Seminole’s lead to 21-13 in the second quarter. Josh Townsend scored on a 5-yard run for the Warriors to close the gap before halftime.

In just one half, the Warhawks (2-5) rushed for 304 yards.

Sand helped Seminole put the game away with touchdown runs of 12 and 43 yards in the second half. Sand finished the night with 21 carries for 204 yards and three touchdowns. Willis chipped in 123 yards and two touchdowns, including a 12-yard TD catch in the game’s waning minutes.

“The players have been persistent all year long and running back Trevor Sand is our go-to guy, and all the teams know it,” coach Sam Roper said.
