WESLEY CHAPEL — Sickles remained perfect in Class 7A, District 7 on Friday, rolling past Wiregrass Ranch 35-7.
Isaac Holder led the way for the Gryphons, finishing 13-for-22 with 157 yards, three touchdowns and one interception to spoil the Bulls’ senior night festivities.

“We play hard every week and we just try to beat every team that we face,” Holder said.

“We knew we were going to win. We just had to execute.”

Sickles (7-1, 4-0) jumped to a quick lead in the first quarter after returning the opening kick 50 yards. That set up a six-play drive, capped with a 4-yard reception by Louis Mercado from Holder.

The Gryphons scored three more times in the first half to pull away thanks to a 5-yard run by Ray Ray McCloud III and a pair of passes from 9 and 60 yards from Holder to Chett Levay.

McCloud, who sustained an injury during last week’s win over Gaither, finished with 114 yards on 10 carries. He was held out in the second half as a precaution.

Sickles secured the win in the fourth quarter as backup quarterback Jon Weinreich hit Missouri commit Zach Hudson for a 5-yard touchdown strike.

Wiregrass Ranch (3-5, 0-4) scored its lone TD with 1:17 left as James Jackson hauled in a 24-yard pass from quarterback Zachary Davidson, but it was too little, too late.
