DOVER — Strawberry Crest opened up Class 7A, District 8 play with a decisive victory over Brandon, beating the Eagles 46-0 Friday night.

Making his first start at quarterback in place of the injured Tristan Hyde, who tore his ACL last week and is out for the season, Austin Carswell threw for four touchdown passes.

After hitting Farron Rainford for a 5-yard pass to open scoring in the second quarter, Carswell also found his brother Alex for a 26-yard touchdown right before halftime.

Carswell and Rainford also hooked up in the third quarter for another score, and D.J. Trigg caught a scoring pass in the final quarter.
The Chargers (2-2) also got a strong rushing performance from Chris Perez. The senior back added 146 yards on 20 carries and found the end zone twice.

Brandon turned the ball over three times and could only muster 37 rushing yards against a tough Crest defense.
