ST. PETERSBURG — For the first half, Friday’s game between host Admiral Farragut and Victory Christian was closely contested. Then the Storm scored three times in the first six minutes of the third quarter — twice on fumble returns — to fuel a decisive road win.
Drive of the game: Most of Victory Christian’s scores came via the big play, but one drive worth noting came in the third quarter. Victory Christian started at Admiral Farragut’s 10-yard line and after a pass and run gained nothing, Jaylyn McKinney scored on a quick run to the left.

Play of the game: As time expired in the first half, Victory Christian senior quarterback Caleb Lewis evaded pressure and threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Alvin Harper Jr. Victory Christian headed into halftime with a 14-12 lead and momentum.

Star of the game: Jaylyn McKinney starred on both sides of the ball for the Storm. On defense, the senior had two fumble recoveries for touchdowns 61 seconds apart to start the second half. Minutes later he had a 9-yard touchdown run.

Stat of the game: Seven fumbles by Admiral Farragut, three of which were lost.

Final word: “Our offense was not exactly clicking. … I really give it up to our defense and special teams for getting it done.” — Victory Christian coach Tommy Lewis
