Former Clearwater pitcher Tyler O'Brien has signed a scholarship with Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, according to his father, Kelly. O'Brien graduated from Clearwater in 2011. During his senior season he was 6-3 with a 3.29 ERA. He also hit .347 with 15 RBIs.
O'Brien spent the offseason playing travel ball for the Florida Burn of Windemere. His highlight was pitching 12 scoreless innings at the Perfect Game WWBA 18-under national championships. Daytona State College is a two-year program that plays in the Mid-Florida Conference.
