Former Land O'Lakes quarterback Joe Weatherford confirmed his intention to transfer to West Georgia.

Weatherford, who has been at Central Florida, was never truly in contention for the No. 1 job as he constantly battled behind Michael Greco and Rob Calabrese. Weatherford got no playing time last season after he appeared in three games as a redshirt freshman in 2008. He finished his UCF career 15-for-36 for 160 yards and two interceptions.

Weatherford said he will attend graduate this summer with a degree in health services administration. With two years of eligibility remaining, Weatherford said he will study business administration at West Georgia.

Weatherford (6-foot-4, 200 pounds), who graduated in 2007, will join younger brother, John Weatherford, who plays at West Georgia.

"I was weighing my options and I felt passionate to play somewhere else," Weatherford said. "My brother's been playing there for a couple of years. He got a word into the coach. ...(West Georgia coach) Daryl Dickey's real close to our family. He's a great guy and he's been real supportive."
