Former Largo lineman Kevin Gulley died Tuesday, Packers coach Rick Rodriguez said.

“Kevin always had a smile on his face, and was well liked by everyone,” Rodriguez said. “It was a tough situation for all of us.”

Gulley, 20,  started at left tackle as a senior two years ago. Rodriguez said Gulley was at work Oct. 5 when he was found unconscious on the bathroom floor. Gulley was taken to Northside Hospital, had no brain activity and was taken off a ventilator on Tuesday, Rodriguez said.

“A lot of the guys, especially the seniors, knew (Gulley) and were close with him,” Rodriguez said.

On Wednesday, the Packers had a memorial for Gulley in the locker room. Largo, which is 6-0, also plans to wear KG decals and dedicate the season to Gulley.

The team is holding a car wash Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Spinal Correction Center (515 Missouri Ave.) to help pay for Gulley’s funeral, which is Oct. 20. No other details were immediately available.
