Former Pasco pitcher Colena Lazar and her twin sister, Colesa, signed to play softball at Saint Leo University this morning, their father, David said.
Colena turned down a scholarship at Florida Atlantic to play two years of junior college ball at Santa Fe College in Gainesville. She was an all-state pick in 2009 after striking out 250 batters during her senior season with the Pirates.
Colena was named a second-team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association as a freshman at Santa Fe and made the third team this year. She broke school records with 57 wins, 26 shutouts, 597 strikeouts and six no-hitters during her career.
Colesa pitched and played outfield and first base at Santa Fe for two years. She was a second-team All-North Suncoast selection by the Times in 2009.
