Former River Ridge star Lakyn Shull is transferring from Furman University to South Carolina, Royal Knights coach Ernie Beck said Monday in an email.
Shull initially chose Furman over Wisconsin, Iowa, Oregon and others.
The 5-foot-11 right-hander was the Times’ North Suncoast pitcher of the year in 2011. She posted a 16-3 record with a 0.40 ERA and 165 strikeouts as a senior.
As a freshman at Furman last season, Shull pitched a team-leading 117.2 innings, recording a 2.62 ERA with 62 strikeouts.
