Bill Freehan, a 1959 graduate of Bishop Barry and a former all-star with the Detroit Tigers, will loan one of his five consecutive gold gloves to St. Petersburg Catholic during a ceremony Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. at the school.
Freehan played at Bishop Barry, the all-boys predecessor to St. Petersburg Catholic, before starring as a catcher for 19 seasons with the Detroit Tigers. He was an 11-time all-star.
Last month, Freehan was among three former players at the school to be inducted into SPC's baseball hall of fame.
Freehan will not be in attendance for Wednesday's ceremony.
