Florida International’s Jerica Coley, a St. Petersburg Catholic graduate, was an honorable mention selection on AP’s All-America women’s basketball team.

Coley is the only player from a state school named to the All-America team.

This season, Coley was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year after leading the Panthers to their first 20-win season in a decade and an at-large berth in the women’s NIT tournament, FIU’s first postseason appearance since the 2005-06 season.

Coley averaged 23.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists. Last month, she was ranked among the top three in the nation in points per game.

The former standout at SPC was a two-time Times' All-County Player of the Year selection.
