Ryan Green is on his way back from a weeklong trip that included stops at Vanderbilt and Tennessee, but the jewel of the trip was junior day in South Bend where Notre Dame again left a lasting impression on the St. Petersburg Catholic junior running back.
Green, who ran for 1,100 yards and scored 15 touchdowns last season, said the Fighting Irish are atop his unofficial list of schools he hopes to attend in 2013.
"Last time I visited was to watch the Notre Dame-Air Force game,'' said Green. "I didn't get a chance to talk with coaches like I did this time, and they showed me around campus."
The visit also included Green modeling the No. 6 Notre Dame jersey in blue, green and white.
"It was great,'' Green said.
The fleet-footed 5-foot-10, 190-pound Baron back was quoted by a recruiting website this weekend gushing about Notre Dame, saying the Irish were No. 1 and no one else was even close. But he says that statement appeared stronger than he meant it. Green has other schools right there at the top as well. He listed Florida and Florida State among his favorites, and his visit to Knoxville opened his eyes.
"I'm loving what I'm seeing here,'' he said.
Green was rated No. 1 on the Times' ranking of 2013 prospects back in January.
