Four-star recruit Craig Watts now at Admiral Farragut

Craig Watts, a four-star recruit with more than 20 Division I offers, has left Gibbs and is now enrolled at Admiral Farragut.

The move comes on the heels of the resignation of Gladiators head coach Rick Kravitz, though Watts said he was thinking of transferring prior to Kravitz leaving.

“I was looking at IMG for a while but my brothers and sisters go to (Admiral Farragut), too,” Watts said. “It’s good. I like it here.”

Watts, a 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back, has offers from Florida, Miami, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame and North Carolina, among others. He also recently attended junior day at USF.

As a junior at Gibbs, Watts had more than 100 tackles. He has been a member of Gibbs’ varsity since his freshman year.

Admiral Farragut was 4-5 last season, allowing just over 17 points per game.

Blue Jackets coach Ryan Hearn didn’t find out Watts was on campus until late Monday.

“I had all these missed texts and calls from college coaches,” Hearn said. “So I called admissions and had them tell me who enrolled today. That’s the first I heard of it. I feel like some country bumpkin coach who doesn’t know what’s going on. But he’s in uniform and I’m looking forward to getting to know him.”
