Gaither senior third baseman Mike Danner has committed to play at Polk Community College, his father said Monday.
Danner, a Times All-Hillsborough County first-team selection last year, hit .373 with 7 homers and 22 RBIs. He also scored 31 runs and 38 hits, 11 doubles and 1 triple.
He was also voted the Best Hitter at last year's Saladino Tournament and made the all-tournament team, followed by a Class 6A all-state honorable mention.
Danner was also being recruited by St. Leo and St. Pete College. Danner visited Polk on Nov. 23 and then committed there on Friday.
He is the third Gaither player to commit to play baseball in college, joining centerfielder Drew Doty (St. Pete College) and Dylan Hathcock (UNC-Greensboro).
