Gaither junior left-hander pitcher Alex Milne has committed to play college baseball at UCF, Cowboys coach Frank Permuy said Monday.

Milne committed to the Knights last weekend, Permuy said. He selected UCF over Florida Gulf Coast and FAU.

He was Gaither’s No. 1 starter this past spring as a sophomore, going 8-0 with 1 save and a team-best 3.13 ERA. He held opponents for a .185 batting average.

Milne came on the scene as a 125-pound freshman, compiling a 5-2 record with 1 save and a 3.50 ERA.

“I think his parents really got into looking into what would happen in two years,” Permuy said. “(The Knights) have an up-and-coming program and he really liked the head coach and the pitching coach.”

UCF was 33-22 last season, going 10-14 in Conference USA.
