Land O'Lakes seniors Jackson Cannon and Darin Patmon have been offered scholarships from Nebraska-Kearney, Gators coach Brian Wachtel said Sunday night in a text message.

The players were on campus visiting the Lopers, who finished the season ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division II.

Cannon led Land O'Lakes with 89 tackles and 3.5 sacks. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker also caught six passes as a tight end this fall. Cannon was named to the Sunshine Athletic Conference first team and the Times' all-North Suncoast second team. Cannon is a starter on the basketball team and is the Gators' third leading scorer (7.5 ppg) and second leading rebounder (5.1 per game).

Patmon recorded 55 tackles this season at safety and also spent time at running back. The 6-foot, 180-pound Patmon blocked two punts against Mitchell and recovered two fumbles during the season. He was a second-team all-conference pick.

The Lopers have a history of recruiting the North Suncoast. Former Mitchell running back Ricky Trinidad plays for Nebraska-Kearney and had a breakout freshman season.
