Gibbs quarterback/middle linebacker Devontae White will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in last week's game against Dunedin, Gladiators coach Antonio Knox said.

The loss of White is a blow for the depleted Gladiators who have to find starters on both sides of the ball to replace one of their more versatile athletes.

Knox said Devontay Williams will start at quarterback in Thursday's game against Lakewood. Chris Adams will start at middle linebacker with Jarvis Maynor serving as the backup according to Knox.

This isn't the first time Gibbs has had to deal with a major injury. The Gladiators lost star running back Emmanuel Stewart to a torn ACL in the second week of the season. But Gibbs will get some reinforcements on offense with the return of running back Jeremy Williams, who was held out last week for precautionary reasons.
