Gibbs has two of the more high-profile recruits in the county, Jarvis West and Tim Jackson, who had already announced where they were going to school.

So Wednesday's signing day ceremony was more about dotting the I's and crossing the T's on their letters of intent and making it all official.

West, a utility player, will have the same role at Iowa State, where he committed four months ago.

"I had some schools that called after I committed, but I stayed true to where I was going," West said. "I'm excited about Iowa State. I just want to be able to get the ball in my hands."

Jackson, a defensive lineman, announced he will be attending North Carolina last week.

"I know basketball is king at North Carolina," Jackson said. "But I think they're starting to turn it around with football."
