Gibbs has whittled its list of girls basketball head coaching candidates down to five finalists who will be interviewed this week, Gladiators athletic director Mark Robertson said.

The finalists are Largo assistant Lee Bostick, Canterbury coach Alli Fogle, Middleton coach Curtis Folson, former Gibbs coach Ed Jackson and former St. Petersburg College coach William Smith.

Fogle is a former standout at Seminole. Jackson has coached at Pinellas Park (1980-85), Lakewood (1995-2004) and with the Gladiators (2005-08). Smith coached St. Petersburg College's women's basketball team from 1994-2009 and was coach at Pasco-Hernando Community College from 1981-90.

Fogle, Folson and Smith also applied for the Boca Ciega head coaching position.

The Gladiators have been searching for a permanent coach since November, when Angela Meiser resigned after three seasons because of health reasons. Teddy Johnson took over as coach on an interim basis and led the Gladiators to a runnerup finish in Class 5A, District 12.
