Gibbs wide receiver/defensive back Maurice Hall committed to UCF over the weekend.
Hall, listed as a three-star recruit by 247Sports, had offers from six other schools, including Oklahoma, USF and West Virginia.
“Maurice went on a visit there this past weekend, and he really liked it,” Gladiators coach Rick Kravitz said. “UCF was on him and offered him early. They stayed on Maurice after that and did a good job recruiting him.”
Hall missed most of last season after being shot in the right hip on Sept. 15. The bullet lodged near his stomach and colon and required surgery. In three games, Hall caught six passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 16 tackles on defense, including two for losses.
UCF has become a popular choice among Pinellas County players. This past season, East Lake’s Pete DiNovo and Lakewood’s Shaquill and Shaquem Griffin all signed with the Knights.
Kravitz said DiNovo’s father, Pete DiNovo Sr., took Hall to Orlando for his recruiting trip.
“Maurice already knows a lot of guys that are going to UCF,” Kravitz said. “He feels like he’ll do well there, and it should be a good fit for him.”
