Two games into the season, Gibbs coach Rick Kravitz has decided to try a new quarterback. Senior Xavier Kirnes will start against Largo Thursday night, replacing Palm Harbor University junior transfer Brevet Killett.

“Just time to try something different,’’ Kravitz said. “Xavier gives us more of a running threat. Not that Brevet couldn’t run, he just hasn’t done it yet. Brevet will be ready to go if we need him.’’

Gibbs has scored only six points in the first two games. That touchdown came last week against Pinellas Park, when Kirnes replaced Killett and scored on a 33 yard run.
