Jarvis West took his first official visit this past weekend to Iowa State. He was so enamored with the school that he decided to commit to the Cyclones on Tuesday.

"I just loved everything when I was there," West said. "There were no negatives at all."

West, an all-purpose athlete at Gibbs, received more than 10 offers from major Division I schools, including Ole Miss, Nebraska, Syracuse and Tulsa.

He said the coaching staff at Iowa State planned to use him in a role similar to the one he has with the Gladiators."I'll play receiver, but I'll do a little bit of everything," West said.

That means returning kicks and punts, which would put him in competition next season with former Largo standout Leonard Johnson, who was one of West's hosts this past weekend. West said he might consider taking more trips but doesn't have any planned. And he said more offers could come his way.

"But I'm happy with my decision," he said.
