The reigning North Suncoast girls basketball player of the year put on one of the top performances of the season Thursday night.

Gulf’s Kayla Kivinski exploded for 49 points and recorded a triple double to lead her team to a 68-58 overtime victory over Wiregrass Ranch. The junior guard’s point total was the highest of her career and one of the top scoring marks in Tampa Bay this winter.

She did it thanks to 12 field goals and a 23-of-26 shooting performance from the free-throw line. Kivinski also added at least 20 rebounds and 10 blocks, Buccaneers coach Clare Ennis said.
