Girls Basketball: Jefferson F Shayla Wilson commits to North Florida

Jefferson girls basketball player Shayla Wilson has committed to North Florida, her mother, Evelyn, said Friday.

Wilson, who measures 6-foot-1, is the first player from Jefferson, male or female, to collect both 1,000 points and rebounds in a career and led this year's Dragons with 14.6 points per game.

Jefferson (20-7) advanced to the Class 6A region final, and Wilson scored 20 points in the Dragons 56-44 loss to Winter Haven. She was also a first-team all-Hillsborough County selection by the Times.
