Girls Basketball: Sickles G Bre Crum commits to North Florida

High-scoring Sickles point guard Bre Crum has committed to the University of North Florida, Sickles coach Mark Key said Tuesday.

North Florida was Crum's only D-I offer, but she also owned an offer from Florida Southern and had received interest from Northeastern, Key said.

"I really think it's a good fit for her," Key said of North Florida.

The 5-foot-8 senior helped the Gryphons to their first Class 5A state tournament berth in school history last season, leading Sickles with 20.9 points per game, 4.9 assists and 4.0 steals.

For the last three seasons, she combined with Parade All-American Amber Henson, now a freshman at Duke, to become one of Hillsborough County's top scoring duo.

And even when Henson was injured at the beginning of last season, Crum picked up the slack with six straight 30-point games.
