Indian Rocks Christian advanced to the Class 3A, District 9 final with a 42-35 victory Thursday over Northside Christian.

The Golden Eagles never trailed but could not pull away from the sixth-seeded Mustangs.

“We just kept letting them hang around,” IRC coach Phil Farver said. “If we play like that against St. Pete Catholic we could lose by 25.”

The Golden Eagles were led by Rachel Boyette, who scored 14. The Mustangs were led by Haley Gossard and Saje Schlatterer, who scored 10 each.

St. Petersburg Catholic 53, Shorecrest 16: The Barons cruised into the district final. Michelle Halapio led SPC with 14 points and Brittney Dunbar added 12. Molly Manella had eight points for Shorecrest.
