Girls soccer: Hillsborough products propel West to FACA All-Star victory

Thanks to contributions from Hillsborough County players on offense, defense and in goal, the West team  beat the East and the North in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star games, held this past weekend at USF.

In the first of the four games, the West beat the East 3-1 thanks in part to two goals from Steinbrenner's Taylor Valley and another from Warriors teammate Cici Gonzalez. Newsome's Jackie Simpson and Wharton's Brittany McNickle added assists, and Freedom goalkeeper Emily Ball allowed no goals and recorded four saves in her time in the net.

In the championship game, held Saturday, the West team beat the North 2-1 as Gonzalez scored both goals in the final 10 minutes of the contest. Valley assisted on one, and Ball once again did not allow any goals while also recording three saves.

Sickles D Sienna Brooks was named the West team's MVP.
