Seminole girls soccer player Sierra Lelii, who has scored 74 goals in her high school career with the Warhawks, has orally committed to Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, her father Maurice said Friday evening.
A Times Pinellas County first-team selection last season, Lelii helped the Warhawks to the Class 5A state title game at Tampa's Pepin Stadium. She finished her junior season with 38 goals, second most in Pinellas County, and 11 assists.
This season, the senior forward has 16 goals and six assists. She also plays club soccer for the Clearwater Chargers.
Maurice Lelii said his daughter received interest from about 20 colleges throughout the Southeast and Northeast and received six scholarship offers -- three from D-I schools and three from D-II schools -- and ultimately decided Nova Southeastern was the best fit academically and athletically.
Nova Southeastern is a Division II school that compete in the Sunshine State Conference with the likes of the University of Tampa, Eckerd College and Florida Southern. This fall, the Sharks won a share of the SSC regular-season conference title and finished the season with a 9-6-1 record.
