St. Petersburg has hired Kristen Nardozzi to take over the boys and girls swim program. Nardozzi replaces Sandy Heidt, who retired this year.
Nardozzi swam for the Green Devils from 1996-2000. She coached two years at Trinity College and a year at the University of Connecticut. She moved back to St. Petersburg in 2009 to become a teacher and coached St. Petersburg Catholic’s programs the past two seasons. Nardozzi’s mother, Patty, is the swim coach at Shorecrest.
“I wanted to take a shot and come back and coach at my alma mater,” Nardozzi said. “I’m already familiar with some of the kids from club swimming and having coached against them on the high school level. There are some strong kids coming back and a few diamonds in the rough. I just wanted to get my hands on a bigger program and see what I can do.”
