A 3-yard touchdown run by 5-foot-8 senior Marcos Vega in the waning seconds capped Sickles' 20-9 victory Wednesday night at Lakeland Kathleen in the Gryphons' bowl-game season finale.

The Gryphons, making their second consecutive bowl appearance, finish 8-3 for the third time in four seasons.

Playing without 1,300-yard rusher Ray Ray McCloud (knee tendonitis), Sickles got a 100-plus-yard performance from senior Tony Valdez, who had only 128 yards on the season entering the game. Senior Bilal Silat scored on a short TD run, while junior Daniel Lezotte added a pair of field goals.
