Gulf has named Tom Carter the permanent baseball coach for the remainder of the season Carter told the Times on Monday and Buccaneers athletic director Travis DeWalt confirmed on Tuesday.

Carter, also Gulf's football coach, takes over for Darryl Stindham, who resigned mid-season after accepting a full-time teaching position at Genesis Prep. Stindham will also serve as Genesis Prep's athletic director.

Carter, the former Land O'Lakes defensive coordinator and 23-year Gators assistant, will have his hands full as he will pull double duty coaching the baseball team and monitoring the football team as they approach spring football. Carter was named Gulf's head football coach in December, replacing Ken Hollar, who resigned after going 6-4 in his lone season at the helm.

The Buccaneers baseball team is currently 0-10 on the season.
