Gulf lineman Jeff Kruse knows where he’s going to college – but he’s keeping his choice a surprise for a week.

“Officially committed yesterday!” Kruse wrote in a text message to the Times early Wednesday morning. “Not going to tell anyone who until signing day though!”

Kruse was one of the North Suncoast’s top linemen last fall. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound senior has an offer from Eastern Michigan but is also considering Ivy League schools like Princeton and Cornell. He’s also kept in touch with Georgetown, Columbia and Yale.

Kruse was an all-Sunshine Athletic Conference first-team selection at offensive and defensive line and a first-team pick on the Times’ all-North Suncoast team.

National Signing day is Feb. 1.
